Asemenea lui Florin Mitroi sau lui Mihai Cizmaru instala\u021bi, din p\u0103cate, prematur \u00een v\u00e2rsta lor postum\u0103, el tr\u0103ie\u0219te retras \u0219i cvasianonim, iar din c\u00e2nd \u00een c\u00e2nd, cu o mult mai pregnant\u0103 voca\u021bie de lupt\u0103tor dec\u00e2t ace\u0219tia, iese \u00een spa\u021biul public cu expozi\u021bii mereu noi \u0219i se angajeaz\u0103 direct \u00een b\u0103t\u0103lia cu lenea \u0219i cu promiscuitatea celor din jur.<br \/>\nPictor format \u00een cultura traditional\u0103 a imaginii, &#8211; aceea care se hr\u0103ne\u0219te constant din structurile constituite ale lumii vizibile \u0219i care a sistematizat expresia \u00een genuri, adic\u0103 a identificat imaginea drept peisaj, natur\u0103 static\u0103, portret, compozi\u021bie etc. -, Dan Bota a c\u0103utat permanent solu\u021bii de evaziune din enun\u021burile preexistente, dar a p\u0103strat continuu distan\u021ba optim\u0103 fa\u021b\u0103 de logica lor elementar\u0103. Astfel, pictura lui se manifest\u0103 pe un interval larg, c\u00e2nd mai aproape de sursa obiectiv\u0103, de modelul \u00een func\u021biune la un moment dat, c\u00e2nd mai aproape de expresia suficienta sie\u0219i, de subiectivitatea \u00een plin\u0103 expansiune, \u00eens\u0103 mecanismele de reglare a distan\u021bei sunt at\u00e2t de subtil manevrate \u00eenc\u00e2t imaginea evit\u0103 spectaculos at\u00e2t retorica realului nemijlocit, c\u00e2t \u0219i dezagregarea, fuga \u00een abstrac\u021biunea f\u0103r\u0103 memorie, a purei subiectivit\u0103\u021bi.<br \/>\nDac\u0103, din punct de vedere formal, Dan Bota este un analist voluptos al realului, o constiin\u021b\u0103 fascinat\u0103 \u0219i sedus\u0103 de spectacolul enorm al culorii, un hedonist, p\u00e2n\u0103 la urm\u0103, care celebreaz\u0103 frumuse\u021bea crea\u021biei pe m\u0103sur\u0103 ce o descoper\u0103 \u0219i o ia \u00een posesie, din punct de vedere al angaj\u0103rii morale \u0219i al filosofiei implicite, chipul artistului ia o alt\u0103 \u00eenf\u0103\u021bi\u0219are. Pictura devine o form\u0103 necru\u021b\u0103toare de lupt\u0103, ea se na\u0219te dintr-o evidenta spaim\u0103 de vid, exuberan\u021ba devine simptomul unei mari angoase \u00een fa\u021ba \u00eencremenirii \u0219i a mor\u021bii, iar pata de culoare se transform\u0103 \u00eentr-un vehicul al vie\u021bii care tinde s\u0103 se manifesteze exploziv, ca singur\u0103 alternativ\u0103 la neant.
