On almost every day/night I spent standing in the first row in order to see and hear better the artists that were performing, my head was booming with the heavy bass and my heart was dancing in my chest, only at times to wake up from that state and feel so much joy- the best kind of happiness and peace, that only your favourite music can bring you.
We arrived at about 11 PM on Friday evening, catching Lizz’s final piece.
We saw him playing before, so we knew this young emerging artist would deliver a good set.
Although we sat for 40-45 minutes at the door to get our pass, it didn’t matter because we where there for the DJs and their acts.
Nu Zau played beautifully, giving a great performance at stage B.
SIT Live were amazing- we expected the best and they delivered. Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia are known to be great DJs and producers that have a classical background, so we knew we where in for a treat.
When they played Angels, everyone got crazy and started to really enjoy the set, feeling like the SW mood really kicked in.
We caught Suciu & Herodot at around 8 PM the next day. Everyone was having such a great time, the atmosphere was amazing and you could almost feel the breeze mixing with the energy and the good vibes.
I personally enjoyed Herodot’s tracks, but not so much the acid vibes that Suciu brought. All in all, nothing beats a dancey mix and people can certainly feel and respond to it.
We saw Fumiya Tanaka at 6 AM on Saturday at stage D. He had a good set, it was a good way to start the day, early in the morning, right before the sun rising.

Barac delivered a pretty powerful set, leaving us wanting more. He started off with deep beats, continued with a set that couldn’t stop our feet, but ended pretty abruptly. We honestly thought at some point he got bored, but we hope that’s not the case.
K.D.Chriss came in strong, with an experimental, yet very well-linked mix.
He really surprised us and convinced even the most tired of us to keep dancing.
Petre Inspirescu B2B Raresh played a happy dancey set on Monday morning.
Having some good hours to search through their record bags, their set grooved through several genres of electronic music, from Raresh’s optimistic, dancey tunes, to Pedro’s housey, yet minimalistic piece.
Cap was a beautiful surprise. He started a powerful mix, transporting us through storms and dancing mountains, some might say.
Dan Andrei- or the prodigious child, supported by Rhadoo in Dan’s early days delivered an experimental set, mixing futurist and abstract sounds at first, only to bring in afterwords loopy, mesmerizing sounds. For me it had a dark, detached feel to it, but very well constructed- the sounds were blending in perfectly.
Gescu got us moving from the very first second he put his hands on the CDJS.
We danced for 4 to 5 more hours, even though it was hellish hot and everything was dripping inside and outside.
Xandru had a very good set, although he was a newcomer.
Praslea delighted us with a beautiful night mix, powerful and dark, yet enchanting, that kept us moving.Except for a short power cut when people reacted in a very nice way, playing at bottles, the act was amazing.
As Monday melted into Tuesday, Dubtil started the frenzy; this is when the afterparty really kickstarted.
Cezar B2B Dubtil represented for me the SW experience. With two such experienced DJs, this beautiful festival couldn’t have ended more properly.
Dark vocals, heavy bass, melancholic, yet beautiful construction of sounds getting the people mesmerized; you could feel that pressure building towards a blissful state.
Red lights were illuminating the tent, almost deconstructing it and the storm was starting. The atmosphere was amazing, almost magical and we all felt it.
Mermaid-like sounds coming in waves, creating a mutual state of trance and respect for the incredible set the DJs brought us.
Heavy bass, sharp objects/glass shattering-like sounds getting us so close to that bliss, only to drop us into dark states and then again to elevate us.
Neon-like fluorescent visuals of atoms building and deconstructing meaning kept us amazed.
Angry, powerful, heavy, dark, obscure, gloomy, obsessive, deep, imaginative, melancholic, karmic, abrupt, perpetual, absolute, almost apocalyptic– these are the words that best describe the masterpiece that Cezar delivered.
That so hard to describe state in which I found myself so lost between 19 and 23 august- still catches me dreaming.
Minimalist hotel architecture in front, the sea peaking behind it and an amazing neon sun rising-that is a moment that froze in my mind, carrying me into a blissful state of wonder.
Time went by in an abstract manner: we made a funny timetable- sleep for 3 hours, quick lunch/dinner, sunbathe for one hour and then taxi to our favourite tent.
Dance, laugh, feel for 7 to 15 hours and then repeat the schedule. Daily, for 5 days.
Five days that flew like crazy; we lost perception of it, as time shifted. Music fed us happiness and our bodies repeated some sort of dance mantra, which felt like purifying us from everything that had ever gone wrong in our lives.
Yes, the music we love does that.It carries us into a state of endless bliss which never seems to get us down.
Thank you, Sunwaves.
